Artificer’s Square, the intersection of Cross and Bartholomew street is the old artisan quarter of 1820 Grahamstown. Many restored original houses, now National Monuments, reflect a number of 1820 Settler architectural styles. Wagon stones and cobbled gutters still exist.

Bartholomew's accommodation is within walking distance from Grahamstown's city centre, it is 1km from the Cathedral in High Street and 1.5km from the Drosdy Arch which is the entrance to Rhodes University.

- The Loft, a three star TCGSA rated self catering facilities with a bed and breakfast option, ideally suited to families or friends of up to six people travelling together in the Eastern Cape. This historic building, once an old church, is full of character with its loft conversion and double volume living area. Entrance to this property is through large gates with paved driveway with ample secure parking.

- The Cottage  has been converted into self contained units, the Court Yard and the Patio suite. The original wooden beams, old wooden floors and windows keep to the character of this historic building. Each unit has a bedroom, kitchen/living room and bathroom.  The Courtyard Suite opens onto a private walled courtyard, the charming stone walls a typical feature of 1820 Grahamstown homes. The Patio Suite opens onto a small sunny patio.

- The Corner House adjoining the Loft was built in 1852. This elegant double story building offers 3 en-suite guest rooms on the top floor and 1 self-catering flat let with private entrance on the ground floor.

The Corner House was built to house Joseph Green Biscuit and Bread Baker in the early days of Grahamstown. Breakfasts are now served in the original bakery shop.
